Zona Belle Claxton Menser Sherman

Zona Belle Claxton Menser Sherman, age 93, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Baptist Health, Madisonville, KY. Ms. Sherman was born February 14, 1925. She was the twelfth child of William H. Claxton and Pearl Chapman Claxton of Caldwell County, KY. She is preceded in death by her son ~ Danny Joe Menser, Husband ~ Charles H. Sherman, seven brothers and four sisters.



She was known to the family as the “Valentine Girl” over which much was made of the date of her birthday throughout her life, especially in her younger years. Ms. Sherman was a defense worker in the shipyard in Evansville, IN during WWII. She was very family oriented and never missed a family gathering even though she had moved to Colorado for

a number of years and later to Missouri where she and her late husband were members of the American Legion in St. Charles, MO.



Ms. Sherman is survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Philip Thomas and family and Mary Sue Franklin are two of many that visited her frequently at the Tradewater Health and Rehab Center in Dawson Springs, KY, and they were so much help to her. Zona Sherman was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.



Visitation for Ms. Zona Sherman will be Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY. There will be a Graveside Service held for her at Piney Grove Cemetery on June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM with the Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating.
