William Leon Collins, age 75, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN. Mr. Collins was born on September 17, 1943 in Christian County, KY to the late John W. Collins and Dorothy Darnell Collins. He was a mechanic and retired with the Hopkins County Board of Education Bus Garage. Formerly Mr. Collins served as a mechanic for several of the area coal mines, and he was a welder for TVA. Among Mr. Collins’ hobbies he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Perhaps Mr. Collins was best known as the Grand National Champion Trap Shooter, a distinct honor he held for many years.
Mr. Collins is survived by a daughter ~ Tammy (Kent) Workman, and a son ~ Deon (Tracy) Collins, both of Dawson Springs, KY; four grandchildren ~ Elizabeth Robinson, Emilee Workman, Cole Collins and Cydney Collins; and one great-grandchild ~ Luke Robinson. Additionally, he is survived by a wonderful caregiver of over ten years, Brandi Reynolds, for whom the family is extremely grateful for her wonderful care.
Preceding Mr. Collins in death is his parents and his beloved wife ~ Linda Joan Collins who passed away 5-22-2007.
A visitation for William Leon Collins will be Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY, and on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY. Burial will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery, Dawson Springs, KY.
