Virgil Eugene "Bud" Bratcher

Virgil Eugene “Bud” Bratcher, Sr., age 82, of Nebo, KY passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Bratcher was born on August 5, 1942 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Virgil Henry Bratcher and Mary Elizabeth Lanham Bratcher. Virgil was the owner of Bud and Jan’s Grocery from 1982-2007 and was a certified electrician. He also worked as a crane operator for American Brass and served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 – 1963. 

He is survived by his daughter ~ Laurie Pryor of Mt. Juliet, TN; a son ~ Virgil Eugene (Tammy) Bratcher, Jr. of Lake in the Hills, IL; two brothers ~ David (Cindy) Bratcher of Madisonville, KY and Roger (Rita) Bratcher of Nebo, KY; four grandchildren ~ Michael Pryor, Sarah Bratcher, Rachel Bratcher and Toni Montgomery; six great-grandchildren ~ Eli Pryor, Ella Pryor, Dante Pryor, Ezra Pryor, Frankie Montgomery and E.J. Montgomery.

Mr. Bratcher is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife ~ Janice Lee Bratcher (departed 8/13/2001); a sister ~ Alma Faye Wyatt and a brother ~ Danny Clay Bratcher, Sr.

Visitation for Virgil Eugene Bratcher, Sr. will be on Monday, August 19, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. –until the 1:00 P.M. funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Beedie Bratcher, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Silent Run Cemetery in Nebo, KY. 

Pallbearers will be David Bratcher, Michael Pryor, Bryan Montgomery, Calvin Bearden, Jeff Jones and Jackie Jones. Junior Jones, Timmy Wyatt and Jeff Bratcher will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
