Velma Mitchell

Velma Mitchell, age 97, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Tradewater Health & Rehab in Dawson Springs.  Ms. Mitchell was born on June 19, 1926 in Nebo, KY to the late Hubert Franklin and Nola Brown Franklin.  She was a beloved Mother and Homemaker.  She was a member of the Dawson Springs Baptist Temple.  She loved the Lord, attending church and she loved her family.

Ms. Mitchell is survived by her daughter, Linda Howton (Rev. Donnie Howton) of Dawson Springs, KY; sixteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren, and several great-great-great grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ruby Mitchell (departed 1968); two daughters, Patricia Frommel and Wanda Brown; three sons, Billy Mitchell, Garry Mitchell, and Kenneth Mitchell; two brothers, Alva Franklin and James Franklin; two sisters, Floella Lynn, and Wilma Mitchell.

Visitation for Velma Mitchell will be Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Dawson Springs Baptist Temple from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Dawson Springs Baptist Temple from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM with Rev. Donnie Howton and Rev. Nathan Howton officiating. 

Active Pallbearers include Mike Frommel, Donald Brown, Christopher Brown, Kenneth Buckley, Jason Stuessel, Michael Johnson and Brian Mitchell.  Honorary Pallbearers include Robbie Rodriguez, Jaxton Stuessel, Donaven Colson, Robert Pritt, and Malachi Howton.
