On July 19, 2024, the world lost a beacon of kindness and generosity with the passing of Rodney Lee Baucum at his residence. He was born on July 27, 1966, in Madisonville, KY to the late James Willis and Rachel Bruce Baucum. Rodney's impact on his community through his volunteer work for local charities and his dedication to the YMCA will be a lasting legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Rodney warm spirit and caring nature touched the lives of many. He found joy in simple pleasures, from attending concerts and movies to relishing events. His love for swimming in his pool and his passion for travel, especially to Florida and the Smokey Mountains, added vibrancy to his life. Additionally, his faith was an integral part of who he was; heading to church brought him solace and connection.
Rodney will be deeply missed by those who survive him: Brenda Campbell of Georgia (sister), Kathy Pleasant of Nortonville, KY (sister), Cardyn Parker and her husband, Aldin, of Crofton, KY (sister), Teresa Miles of Dawson Springs, KY (sister), Bruce Baucum and his wife Charlotte of Dawson Springs, KY (brother), Morse Baucum and his wife Kathy of Dawson Springs, KY (brother), Dewayne Baucum and his wife Christine of Morgantown, KY (brother). His loyal companion, a special dog named Smokey, also mourns the loss.
In the midst of this profound loss, Rodney leaves behind a loving memory carried by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James Willis, and mother, Rachel Bruce Baucum. He also joins Nancy Kingery (sister) and Gary Baucum (brother) in eternal peace.
Visitation for Rodney Lee Baucum will be held on July 22nd from 11:00 AM until the 2:00 funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Brad Payne officiating. Burial will take place at Fox Cemetery in Providence, KY. Bruce Baucum, Casey Baucum, Landon Virgin, Chad Baucum, Aldin Parker and Devyn Sharp will serve as pallbearers. These services are an opportunity for all who knew Rodney to come together to honor his life and support one another during this difficult time.
Rodney's departure has created a void that cannot be filled; however, the memories of his kindness and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a significant difference in this world through his compassion and selflessness.
