Robert Gilchrist Allen

Robert Gilchrist Allen, age 86, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Allen was born on September 30, 1921 in Drakesboro, KY to the late James Robert Allen and Blanche Gilchrist Allen. He was a 1939 graduate Dawson Springs High School and studied one year at Western Kentucky University. Mr. Allen served his country in the United States Army from 1940-1946 and was a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, KY and a retired coal miner.



Survivors include a niece and nephew ~ Debbie Cansler and Billy Allen both of Dawson Springs, KY; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; a great-great-niece and two great-great-nephews.



Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; a sister ~ Ora Lee Lentz; brothers ~ Nevil R. Allen, Bernal B. Allen, Novice P. Allen, Harvey Myers Allen, James R. Allen and William W. Allen, St.



Graveside Services for Robert Loyd Brown will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Rev. Sam Beeny will officiate the service.
