Mrs. Maxine Long Workman

Maxine Kinnett Long Workman, age 95, of Dawson Springs, Kentucky passed away on February 9, 2013 at her home in Charleston. She was born on May 27, 1918, in Charleston, KY to the late Blanche Kinnett & Dewey Long. She attended Charleston and Dawson Springs Schools and was a member of Charleston Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, church clerk, WMU director and choir member for approximately 80 years.



Mrs. Workman was a homemaker, active in the local school as PTA president and was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren.



Mrs. Workman is survived by a daughter ~ Myrna Jones of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter and son-in-law ~ Melinda and Clifford Young of Apex, KY; two sons and daughters-in-law ~ Rev. Kent and Alice Workman of Hopkinsville, KY and Philip and Belinda Workman of Norman, OK; three sisters ~ Janet Flake, Joan Spillman and Peggy Barclay; eight grandchildren ~ Debra Mitchel, Kent Jones, Mike Workman, Andrew Workman, Kathleen Young, Liane Shemwell, Heidi Tucker and Hollie Garentson; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband ~ Isaac Newton Workman; sisters ~ Edith Stanley, Betty Toole and Doris Francu; brothers ~ Ralph Long, Philip Long, Harold Long, Jimmy Long and Welton Long and a grandson ~ Timothy Jones.



Visitation for Mrs. Maxine Workman will be from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Beshear Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Charleston Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kent Workman and Dr. Calvin Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Dunn Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Andrew Workman, Mike Workman, Kent Jones, Mike Flake, Gene Workman, Jonathan Mitchell, Nathan Workman, Arron Workman, Luke Hopper, Jake Hopper, Jesse Hopper, Noah Alford, James Alford, Jacob Workman and Rick Shemwell.
