Mrs. Martene Haile

Martene Haile, 86, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Haile was born July 16, 1925 in Hopkins County, KY. She owned and operated the Y Grocery east of Dawson Springs for many years. Mrs. Haile and her husband operated the Sandefur grocery and gas station and their family owned and operated the C Star Market in Dawson Springs, KY. Mrs. Haile was also a beauty school graduate and worked as a beauty operator at the Phillips and New Century Hotels. She was a member of the Baptist faith.



Mrs. Haile is survived by her husband ~ Ed Haile of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter ~ Cheryl Alexander Towe of Dawson Springs, KY; three grandchildren ~ Tracy (Chris) Miller Carlton, Rhonda (Jay) Kittinger & Laura Miller; five great-grandchildren ~ Kristina Carlton Nash, Kelly Martene Carlton, Chase Kittinger, Clay Kittinger & Carissa Burns; one great-great granddaughter ~ Audrey Blake Nash.



Preceding Mrs. Haile in death were her parents ~ Benjamin Birch Sandefur & Marcella Beshears Sandefur; one sister ~ Marie Ladd; two brothers ~ Lewis T. Sandefur & George Ray Sandefur.



Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Randall Rogers and Rev. Randall Phillips on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with burial at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.



Active pallbearers will be Chris Carlton, Ronnie Haile, Jackie Thomas, Jay Kittinger, Tony Haile, & Steve Hogan. Chase Kittinger, Clay Kittinger, Kristina Nash, Kelly Carlton, Carissa Burns, Audrey Blake Nash, Bill Townzen & Steve Smiley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
