Mrs. Linda Cotton Purdy

Linda Cotton Purdy, age 77, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Baptist Health, Madisonville, KY. She was born on February 3, 1937 in Hopkins County, KY to the late Garland Cotton and Mary Katherine McChesney Eli. She was a co-owner and operator of Purdy Brothers Grocery, Dawson Springs, KY for many years. Additionally, she was a beloved mother and housewife and she was a member of the Dawson Springs Primitive Baptist Church.



She is survived by a beloved family including her husband of 60 years ~ Gayle Purdy of Dawson Springs, KY; three daughters and sons-in-law ~ Cathy Lynn (Joe) Meier of Princeton, IN, Cindy Gayle (David) Kingery of Richland, KY, Carla Ann (Alan) Patton of Dawson Springs, KY; a son and daughter-in-law ~ Steve (Lisa) Purdy of Dawson Springs, KY; a brother ~ Joe Cotton of Safety Harbor, FL; six grandchildren ~ Vicki Stephens, Krista Levee, Karla Wathen, Karissa Purdy, Kaila Bullock and Madison Purdy; and five great grandchildren ~ Casey Meier, Patience Stephens, Alyssa Levee, Luke Levee, and Ansley Wathen. Additionally, she is survived by a beloved canine pet ~ “Scarlet”.



Mrs. Purdy was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters ~ Mary Grace Rose, Betty Brown and Dorothy Simons; and three brothers ~ Howard Cotton, Phillip Cotton and John Cotton.



Visitation for Mrs. Linda Cotton Purdy will begin Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5 until 8 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY and on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow in Purdy Cemetery, Hopkins County, Kentucky.



Active Pallbearers will be David Kingery, Alan Patton, Joe Meier, Dave Levee, Aaron Wathen, and Todd Bullock. Honorary Pall Bearer will be Randy Hawkins.
