William D. “Tony” Davis, age 80, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born on May 13, 1932 in Hopkins County, KY. He served his country in the U.S. Army and he was involved with retail sales in Madisonville, KY for years. Additionally, Mr. Davis served the Dawson Springs community by serving as the manager of the DAPS Program for over 25 years for which he received two awards: the Jefferson Award and the DAPS Award. The Jefferson Award was co-awarded by WPSD-TV Channel 6 and the American Institute for Public Service and recognized his commitment to Community Involvement in the Dawson Springs community. Mr. Davis was an Elvis Presley fan and gained a lot of pleasure as being thought of as a “look alike” of Elvis.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife ~ Audrey Elaine Russelburg Davis of Dawson Springs, KY; one daughter~ Lydia Rachael (Chris) Paris of Nashville, TN; a son~ Timothy Matthew Joseph Davis of Dawson Springs, KY; two brothers~ James W. Davis of Dawson Springs, KY and Alvin Davis of Akron, Ohio; and a grandson~ Jonathan Luke Paris.
Preceding Mr. Davis in death were his parents ~ William Chester Davis and Eleanor Hannah Grable Davis, and a half sister.
Visitation for Mr. William D. “Tony” Davis will be on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY . Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Paris and Rev. Rusty Akers officiating. A military honor service will be conducted at the conclusion of the funeral service by an honor guard of Ft. Campbell, KY at the funeral home.
