Mr. Richard "Mr. C." Chappell

Richard Joe “Mr. C.” Chappell, age 82, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Wednesday December2, 2015 at the Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. Mr. Chappell was born on April 12, 1933 in St. Charles, KY to the late Arlie and Monie Mae Nichols Chappell. He retired after working 40 years as an oil field worker. He served his country as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the purple heart for bravery. Mr. Chappell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs, KY.



Mr. Chappell is survived by his wife of 64 years ~ Anna Lou Cotton Chappell of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter and son-in-law ~ Pam and Bud Tittle of Hobbs, NM; two sons and daughters-in-law ~ Ricky Allen and Luann Chappell of Goodwell, OK, Scott and Chasidy Chappell of Dawson Springs, KY; a son ~ Benjy Chappell of Dawson Springs, KY; a brother and sister-in-law ~ Henry and Jeanie Chappell of Dangerfield, TX; ten grandchildren ~ Traci Chappell, Paul Cowen, Jennifer Cornwell, David S. Chappell, Courtney Riley, Megan Mitchell, Bradley Chappell, Austin Chappell, Kami Chappell and Micah Chappell; and sixteen great-grandchildren.



Preceding Mr. Chappell in death are his parents, a sister ~ Janie Thrasher; four brothers ~ LeRoy Chappell, Isaac Chappell, Thurman Lee Chappell, and David Earl Chappell; a daughter ~ Debbie Chappell Chaney and a granddaughter ~ Kami Myers.



Visitation for Mr. Richard Chappell will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, and on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Darrell Menser officiating. Burial will follow at Ilsley Cemetery with Military Rites being presented by the U.S. Army and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.



Pallbearers will be his grandsons ~ Paul Cowan, Bradley Chappell, Casey Cotton, David S. Chappell, Austin Chappell, David L. Chappell and Micah Chappell.
