Mr. Omer Owen Johnston, Sr.

Omer Owen Johnston, Sr., age 90, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Johnston was born on May 19, 1924 in Nortonville, KY to the late Andrew Burton Johnston and Dicie Jane Latham Johnston. He was an underground coal miner for thirty years and a member of the UMWA. Additionally, he was a member of the Landmark Apostolic Holiness Church for 71 years.



He is survived by his wife of 72 years ~ Ida Myrtle Sisk Johnston of Dawson Springs, KY, a daughter ~ Carol Ann (Rev. Kenneth) Moore of Dawson Springs, KY, four sons ~ Curtis Wayne (Betty) Johnston of Almo, KY, Doyle Randall Johnston of Dawson Springs, KY, Omer Owen (Freida) Johnston, Jr. of Dawson Springs, KY and Kenneth Ray (Dana) Johnston of Waycross, GA, ten grandchildren ~ David Johnston, April Summers, Angela Dayoc, Melissa Morris, Brian Johnston, Ryan Moore, Kenny Johnston, Rebekah Cantrell, Kristin Taylor, and Holly Murray, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons~ Larry Owen Johnston and Ricky Alan Johnston, three sisters~ Pearl Elkins Davis, Maleasure Royal Greer, Velma Johnston; and four brothers ~ Lilburn Johnston, John Johnston, Woodson Johnston, and Mitchell Johnston.



Visitation for Mr. Omer Johnston will be on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Landmark Apostolic Holiness Church in Dawson Springs, KY and on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Landmark Apostolic Holiness Church from 8:00 AM until the funeral hour at 11:00 AM. The funeral will be held at the Landmark Apostolic Holiness Church at 11:00 AM with the Revs. Rusty Akers, Robert Akers, Terry Creekmur, Kenneth and Ryan Moore presiding.



Active Pallbearers will be Brian Johnston, Kenny Johnston, Mike Morris, Jeff Lamb, Ryan Moore & L.C. Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Redden, Rev. Jimmy Laffoon, Gary Ashlock, John Adcock, Wayne Dismang and Paul Poole.
