James Rowe Sutherlin, age 81, of the Dalton community in Hopkins County passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. Mr. Sutherlin was born on September 25, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lawrence Sutherlin and Virgie Mae King Sutherlin. He was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI. Mr, Sutherlin was retired from the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He played guitar for more than 40 years with various artists and bands including Norma Jean (Porter Wagner Show), Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn and the Kentucky Lucky Band.
Surviving family members include his wife of 30 years ~ Carol Gene Brown Sutherlin of Dalton, KY; two daughters ~ Debra Mae and Valerie; two sons ~ James Dean and Rusty; three sisters ~ Paulette, Sandy seven grandchildren ~ Sara, Tonika, Daniel, Alexander, Cody, Kaylee and Vance; five great-grandchildren ~ Eli, Emilee, Felicity, Arianna and Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother ~ Eddie Sutherlin.
Graveside Services for Mr. James Rowe Sutherlin will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Dalton Cemetery in Dalton, KY with burial to follow. The service will be officiated by Chaplin Mark Poiles with military rites provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
