Obituary for James Luther “Keg” Edwards



James Luther “Keg” Edwards, age 96, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away at 11:00 P.M. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Edwards was born November 6, 1915 to Frank and Bobbie Lamb Edwards. He attended the Ilsley Holiness Church and was of the Christian faith. He worked in the underground coal mines for 44 years and was a UMWA Member in excess of 70 years. His mining career included working at the Dawson Colleries and the Dawson Daylight Mines. Additionally, he worked for Island Creek Coal Company including the East Diamond, Atkinson, Uniontown and Providence #1 Mines. He also owned and operated a sawmill and logging business for many years. In most recent years including this summer, he enjoyed gardening and growing produce for friends and neighbors to enjoy.



Mr. Edwards is survived by 85 family members including four daughters~ Kathy Todd and Iva Lee Eison of Dawson Springs, KY; Mary Ann McKinney of Madisonville, KY, and Linda Killough of Groveport, OH; and three sons~ James Ray Edwards and Luther Russell Edwards of Dawson Springs, KY and Bobby Joe Edwards of North Judson, IN; twenty one grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, and eighteen great-great grandchildren. Mr. Edwards was always very pleased that all of this children graduated from Dawson Springs High School.



Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents; his wife~ Elmer Neveline Edwards (departed 1-30-05), two children~ Betty Prow and Mike Edwards; one grandchild; two half sisters~Jessie Lee Turner and Arwana Kyle; two step sisters~ Beulah Stills and Pauline McGregor, and four step brothers~ Elbert, Harley, Ovid and Clyde Thomas.



Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 9:00 A.M.– 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Randall Rogers officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ilsley Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.



Active Pallbearers are: Jason Edwards, Jim Edwards, Brad Todd, Rusty Edwards, Joey Edwards and Bill Prow. Honorary Pallbearers are: Phillip Edwards, Ben Prow, Chris Todd, Kevin Edwards, Randy Chappell, Larry Hook, Larry McKinney, and Greg Kilough.
