James Edward Dockery, age 78, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Kentucky. He was born on December 18, 1936 in Hopkins County, KY to the late Thurman Dockery and Mary Hestor Croft Dockery. Mr. Dockery was a coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member of the Charleston Missionary Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-57.
Mr. Dockery is survived by his faithful wife, Rosie Mae Purdy Dockery of Dawson Springs, KY, a daughter ~ Janice Rose (Joe) Dunlap of Dawson Springs, KY, a son ~ James Andrew Dockery of Dawson Springs, KY, and three sisters ~ Betty Ann (George) Stewart, Linda Mae (Charles) Riley, and Karen Odell (Randy) Duncan all of Dawson Springs, KY, five grandchildren ~ Sarah (Allen) Adams, Rebekah (Jordan) Dalton, Mikaela (Scott) Ashby, Hannah (Eric) Jacobs, and Jessyle Dunlap.
Preceding Mr. Dockery in death are his parents, a sister ~ Nancy Dockery Mitchell-Ballard, an infant brother ~ Roy Wayne Dockery, and an infant sister ~ Paulette Dockery.
A visitation will be held for James Edward Dockery on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY and on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM. The Henderson County Honor Guard and the Ft. Campbell Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the New Beulah Cemetery prior to burial.
Pallbearers include: Allen Wayne Adams, Jordan Kirk Dalton, Scott Ashby, Eric Jacobs, Robert Spalding, and Dale Mathes.
