James Dulin “J.D.” Beeny, age 92, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Beeny was born on October 21, 1920, to the late Leonard Ellis and Cammie Elnora Clayton Beeny. He retired as a hoisting engineer with Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Mr. Beeny was a member and deacon of the Dawson Springs Primitive Baptist Church and was a former member, deacon and clerk of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY. He designed and assisted in the building of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Beeny is survived by his wife ~ Katie Lou Wade of Madisonville, KY; a daughter & Son-in-law ~ Barbara & Gary Bennett of Evansville, IN; a son ~ James D. Beeny, Jr. of Madisonville. KY: a grandson ~ Thomas Lee Carlisle and wife, Amy; and three great-grandchildren ~ Addison Grace Carlisle, Maggie Elisabeth Carlisle & Elijah Bennett Carlisle.
Preceding Mr. Beeny in death were his parents, his first wife of 57 years~ Hazel Qualls Beeny; an infant son ~ Doanld Wayne Beeny; sisters ~ Ann Brown & Marietta Bassett and a brother ~ Harvey Beeny.
Visitation for Mr. J.D. Beeny will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY and on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Madisonville, KY. Funeral Services will be held at the Salem Primitive Baptist on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. conducted by Elder Jeff Winfrey. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 805 West Center Street, Madisonville, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be Chad Armstrong, Austin Hopson, Danny Peyton, Tim Wiles, Stanley Qualls and Tom Carlisle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Peyton, Reid Peyton, Joe Finley, John Gibson, Darriel Harris and Owen Cunningham.
**NOTICE** The Dawson Springs exit (#92) onI-69 South (formerly Western KY Parkway West) will be closed the week of September 30th. If you are traveling from the Madisonville area you will need to travel on the Pennyrile Parkway to the US 62 West exit in Nortonville.
