J.W. Hendrix, age 71, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Hendrix was born in Smithland, KY on June 29, 1942 to the late Jewell and Maggie Mitchell Hendrix. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Unity in Christ Church.
Mr. Hendrix is survived by his wife of 51 years ~ Ione Hendrix of Charleston, KY; three daughters and sons-in-law ~ Anita and Jeff Summers, April and Tim Cullen and Taresa and Rob Linton all of Charleston, KY; a sons and daughter-in-law ~ Jesse and Sherry Hendrix of Charleston, KY; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Hendrix in death were his parents; two sisters ~ Mary Lou Winters and Ethel Thompson and a brother ~ Jewell Ray Hendrix.
Visitation for Mr. J.W. Hendrix will be on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY and on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Revs. Brian Richardson and Monty Fuller officiating. Burial will take place at Dunn Cemetery in Charleston, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be Travis Hendrix, Chris Summers, Cody Summers, Tommy Cunningham, Wade Hendrix, Ryan Linton and Chris Cullen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Cook, Sr., Gilbert Suttle, Bill Townzen, Jack Brown, Gene Franklin and Marvin Creekmur.
