Mr. Hoyt Edward Thomas

Hoyt Edward Thomas, age 88, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Baptist Health of Madisonville, KY He was born in Caldwell County, KY on June 23, 1924 to the late Ruby Thomas and Alice Darnell Thomas and grew up in the Piney Grove Community. He attended school at the Piney Grove School and was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School where he played football. He served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. Mr. Thomas was a retired Lieutenant with the Kentucky State Penitentiary and he farmed in Caldwell County all of his life.



He is survived by his loving wife~ Elaine Lisanby Thomas of Caldwell County; two step-sons~ Rick Hickerson of Caldwell County and Andy Hickerson and his wife, Kathy of Dawson Springs, KY; two grandsons~ Chad Hickerson of Caldwell County, KY, and Eric Hickerson of Paducah, KY; 3 granddaughters~ Stephanie (Tim) Johnston of Caldwell County, KY, Carol (Keith) Dismang and Emily (Kevin) Abbott all of Dawson Springs, KY; one sister~ Alice Dean (Allen) Redden of Caldwell County, KY; one brother~ Lester (Eva) Thomas of Midway, KY; and thirteen great grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife~ Anna Lou Robinson Thomas; a grandson~ Jason Hickerson; three sisters~ Opal Goad, Olan Lisanby, and Nora Thomas; and four brothers~ Dr. Walter Thomas, Woodrow (Preacher) Thomas, King Burton Thomas, and Hilton (Joe) Thomas.



Services for Mr. Hoyt Edward Thomas will be Friday, February 15, 2013 from at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Randall Rodgers officiating and assisted by Rev. Kathy Redden. Visitation for Mr. Thomas will be on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M. Military rites will be conducted by the U. S. Army prior to burial at the Piney Grove Cemetery.



Active Pallbearers will be Chad Hickerson, Kevin Abbott, Keith Dismang, Joseph Johnston, Steven Bearden, and Nathan Bearden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Thomas, Roger Redden, Joe Redden, Wayne Lisanby and Tony Smith.
