Eugene Earl Morris, age 88, passed away at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Morris was born June 12, 1923 in Christian County to Eugene and Lorena Ashby Morris. He was a deacon at the Southern Baptist Church in Bisbee, AZ.
He was a 1941 graduate of Sinking Fork High School in Christian County and served his country in the United States Navy serving in submarine services in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Mr. Morris was a long-time member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a copper miner for 20 years at Phelps Dodge Mining and also was a life insurance salesman.
He is survived by his wife ~ Frances Evelyn Morris of Dawson Springs, KY; one son and daughter-in-law ~ Russell and Karen Morris of Flagstaff, AZ; two grandsons ~ Robert D. Morris and Darren M. Morris; & two great-granddaughters ~ Maya and Chloe Morris.
Preceding Mr. Morris in death were his parents; and three brothers ~ William Everette Morris, Bertie O’Jay Morris & Roy Wendell Morris.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 A.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dennis Mayfield on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville, KY.
