Mr. Charles R. “Joe” Hayne of Dawson Springs, KY passed away at 5:40 P.M. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky. Mr. Hayne was born July 14, 1926 in San Jose, CA. He had an extensive and distinctive military career. He was a retired Master Sergeant after 29 years of military service, serving in the United States Marine Corp. and the United States Army. Additionally, he served in three U.S. Wars, those being: WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
After serving his country in a distinguished military career he returned to Dawson Springs, earned an Associate Degree from Madisonville Community College, worked with Goodyear Manufacturing, and he owned and operated the Sunoco Service Station and Hayne Lawn and Tree Service in Dawson Springs, KY.
Mr. Hayne was a Member of the local American Legion Post 310, and the former Lee Wilson Stevens VFW Post. Additionally, he was a certified underwater diving instructor through the PADI Association and he was an active participant and member of the American Water Skiing Association.
Mr. Hayne is survived by his wife of 60 years - Sue Ellen Hayne of Dawson Springs, Ky; two daughters- Mary Jo Oldham and her husband, Joey Oldham, of Madisonville, KY & Vicki Tapp of Dawson Springs, KY; one son and daughter-in-law- Steve and Annie Hayne of Madisonville, KY; seven grandchildren & seventeen great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Hayne in death were his parents - William James & Vicente Sorieno Reyes Hayne; a son – Joseph Hayne; brother – John Hayne; sister – Vickie Meade and half-sister – Mercedes Hayne.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 6-9:00 P.M. and Friday, June 17, 2011 from 8:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Wayne Lamb on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with burial in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
