Cecil F. “Cricket” McDonald, age 91, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2015 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Kentucky. He was born on November 1, 1923 in Lyon County, KY to the late Willie Albert McDonald and Lillian Baker McDonald. Mr. McDonald was a coal miner, an electrician, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He served as an Elder and was a member of the Ilsley Christian Church, and he served his country in WWII from 1943-1946 in the U.S. Army having engaged in warfare in the “Battle of the Bulge”.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his faithful wife of sixty three years ~ Mary Beth McDonald of Dawson Springs, KY, a son ~ David (Cynthia) McDonald of Louisville, KY, and three grandchildren ~ Suzanne McDonald, Sarah Mae McDonald, and Joseph Michael (Lindsey) McDonald.
Preceding Mr. McDonald in death are his parents, a son ~ Michael McDonald (departed 1/27/91), one brother ~ Herbert McDonald, three sisters ~ Geneva Eades, Marie Ray, and Kathleen McDonald.
A visitation will be held for Cecil McDonald on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY. A funeral service will be held for Mr. McDonald following a visitation at 2:00 PM. Rev.Danny Earl will officiate. Burial will follow in Ilsley Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers include: Bobby Joe Egbert, Rayburn Bratcher, Joe Workman, Ronnie Young, James Douglas Hartline, and Greg Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers include Garnett Young and Bill Townzen.
