Basil “Jerry” Freece, age 73, passed away at 10:55 P.M. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his residence in Dawson Springs, KY. Mr. Freece was born March 17, 1939 in Evansville, IN to the late Rev. Harold Henry Freece and Iona Daugherty Freece. He was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Church and he was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Freece served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for 20 years with International Steel in Evansville, IN, and he retired from Goodyear Rubber in Topeka, KS.
He is survived by a beloved wife ~ Edna Freece of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter~ Deborah Baker and her husband David of Madisonville, KY; a step-daughter and loving caregiver~ Michelle Brown and her husband, Jamie, of Dawson Springs, KY, an adopted daughter~ Janet Savage and her husband Jack of Topeka, KS, and a son~ David Freece of Luxahatchee, FL; and two step-sons~ Scott Kembel and his wife Jackie of Dawson Springs, KY, and Eric Kembel of St. Charles, KY. Additionally, he is survived by a brother~ Rev. Jim Freece and his wife Linda of Evansville, IN and two special nephews~ Jimmy Jay and Joey Freece. Mr. Freece is survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Freece had two very special and faithful friends~ Richard Chiodo and Ray Bochert.
Friends may call beginning Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Monty Fuller and he will be assisted by Mr. Freece’s brother, Rev. Jim Freece. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army following the funeral service at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.
