Mary Ruth Armstrong

Mary Ruth Armstrong, age 86, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mrs. Armstrong was born on November 20, 1936 to the late Ernest Eli and Luella Bennett Eli. She was the dental assistant of Dr. Joe Winfrey and the owner and operator of Armstrong’s Shoes. Additionally, she retired after working 20 years as the assistant city clerk for the City of Dawson Springs. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law ~ Christy and Elder Jeff Winfrey; two grandchildren ~ KC (Gene’) Winfrey and Lynsey (Jesse) Smith; four great-grandchildren ~ Aspen Winfrey, Cruz Winfrey, Stella Smith and River Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 68 years ~ Ted Armstrong (departed 6/6/2022); a great-granddaughter ~ Ellie Winfrey and a sister ~ Juanita Eli Reynolds.

A visitation for Mary Ruth Armstrong will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Dawson Springs, KY 42408 Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Ilsley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be K.C. Winfrey, Aspen Winfrey, Bill Crider, Jesse Smith, Cruz Winfrey and Leonard Whalen.
