Mary Lou Jackson Vandiver age 88, of Sturgis, KY and formerly of Saint Charles, KY passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Vandiver was born on March 13, 1935 to the late David Rufus Jackson and Fairy Lillian Butler Jackson. She married the love of her life, Clifton Robert Vandiver, when she was 14 years old and he was 16 years old. God blessed them with many happy years together and they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2023. Mary Lou was the mother of four daughters, she was an excellent cook and learned how to stretch a dollar. She excelled in her role as mother and wife and she was always by her husband’s side as he pastored several churches and preached the gospel for over 50 years. Mary Lou also sold Amway products for many years and enjoyed visiting with her customers on her delivery route.
Mrs. Vandiver is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years ~ Bro. Clifton Robert Vandiver of Sturgis, KY; two daughters ~ Freda Gale Tilley of Newburgh, IN and Kathy Marie McDaniel of Sturgis, KY; a sister ~ Patsy Ann Brown of Madisonville, KY; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters ~ Rhonda June Brown and Mary Olene Betts; a sister ~ Linda Ruth Riley; a grandson ~ Christopher Thomas Mattingly and a special mother ~ Bessie Olene Jackson.
Visitation for Mary Lou Jackson Vandiver will be Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 3:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY with Bro. Matt Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Gilland Ridge Cemetery in Saint Charles, KY.
Pallbearers will be: Dennis McDaniel, Rodney Adamson, Jeff Rossio, David Adamson, Jonas Hunziker and Roy Byler.
Mary Lou will be sorely missed by the 5 generations of her family, especially her husband. Thank you, Momma, for being such a wonderful wife, mother and Christian role model for all of us. We will always love and miss you!
