Mary Christine Alexander, age 89, passed away on May 19, 2024 in Madisonville Kentucky.
She was born in Yeagar, KY on January 7, 1935 to Johnny and Stella Compton. Mary was a home-maker. She was predeceased by her parents and 7 siblings; Palmer Compton, Mella Smith, Bennett Compton, Elmer Compton, Homer Compton, Commodore Compton, and Charles Compton. She was also predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Jessie Glen Alexander and her baby daughter, Stella Joanne Alexander.
Mary is survived by her 4 daughters; Glenda (Bob) Akers, Rebecca (Randy) Mitchell, Peggy Nett, and Deborah (Rick) Skelton. 9 grandchildren, Rob (Ginger) Akers, Rusty (Mandy) Akers, Stacy (Troy) Jones, Scott (Ashley) Mitchell, Melissa Mitchell, Sabrina (Tyler) Medina, Heather Nett, Jeremy (Crystal) Skelton, and Christie (Daniel) DePriest. She leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her baby sister, Emogene Hutton of North Carolina.
Mary moved to Albuquerque,New Mexico as a child and then to Phoenix, AZ. She was introduced to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church by her brothers Homer & Elmer and sisters in law, Chuckie and Lucille. She repented, was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost at the age of 16. She continued in the faith until her death. She married Jessie Glen Alexander on May 9, 1952. They lived mostly in Arizona until 1977, when they moved to Fairdealing, Missouri. They moved to Kentucky in 1999 to be near their children.
Services will be at Landmark Apostolic Church in Dawson Springs, KY on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 10:30. Viewing will be at 9:30 until service time. Beshears Funeral Home in Dawson Springs is taking care of the arrangements. Internment will be at the Western Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
