Kenneth Wayne Thomas

Kenneth Wayne Thomas, age 79, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Thomas was born on June 16, 1938 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Jesse Lawrence Thomas and Jane Litchfield Thomas. He owned and operated Thomas Honda Sales in Murray, KY for many years. Later he taught machinist vocational classes and then finished his career as a machinist at Briggs and Stratton from where he retired in 2002. Following retirement, he returned to his hometown of Dawson Springs, KY where he served several terms on the Dawson Springs City Council, was President of the Rotary club and where he and Sylvia helped sponsor the Dawson Springs Fun Whizzer Weekend.



As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Kenny built and raced many types of bikes over a 60 year period. Kenny has built bikes that have won best of show as well as bikes that won multiple state and national championships in racing competition. Kenny built and raced a bike that he won the 1968 AMA 175cc National Flat Track Championship with over 100 victories that year.



Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years ~ Sylvia “Lynn” Thomas of Dawson Springs, KY; two sons and daughters-in-law ~ Steve and Carla Thomas of Murray, KY and Terry and Michelle Thomas of Chattanooga, TN; a brother ~ Jesse R. Thomas of Cadiz, KY; three granddaughters ~ Kristen (Marion) Bradshaw, Lauren (Jeff) Olberding and Cari (Nathan) Smith and three great-granddaughters ~ Abby Ricalday, Audri Bradshaw and Scarlett Bradshaw.



Preceding Mr. Thomas in death are his parents and two sisters ~ Charlina Gossett and Doris King.



Visitation for Mr. Kenneth Wayne Thomas will be Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Elder Jeff Winfrey and Bro. Ray Dye will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
