Juanita Hankins, 101, passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Jennifer Griffin, in Athens, TN on Friday, April 11th, 2025. Mrs. Hankins was born August 15th, 1923 in KY to the late Thomas Leonard Traylor and Gertha McGregor Traylor. Juanita lived the majority of her life in Dawson Springs, KY but in her later years, she lived with her son, J.C. Hankins, in Woodbury, TN. She was the oldest of nine children and she helped raise her younger siblings. Juanita was a homemaker who loved children, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hankins is survived by her son and daughter-in-law ~ J.C. and Judy Hankins; three grandchildren ~ Jennifer Lane (Ed) Griffin, Allen Christopher (Bryanna) Hankins and Justin Kyle (Donna) Hankins; six great-grandchildren ~ Tamara Lyle Lane (Charlie) Winfrey, Chelsea Taylor Griffin, Maeve Elizabeth Hankins, Isla Jean Hankins, Veyda Lane Hankins, and Harper Grace Hankins two sisters ~ Mary Magdalene Kirkwood and Hazel Joyce Alfred; two brothers ~ Thomas Cleo Traylor, and Garnett Traylor and her daughter-in-law ~ Joyce Hankins.
Preceding Mrs. Hankins in death were her parents; her husband ~ A.O. Hankins; her son ~ A.C. Hankins; a great-granddaughter ~ Alexis Carole Griffin; sisters ~ Lorene Traylor, Margie Marie Strong and Thelma May Traylor and a brother ~ James Ray Traylor.
Visitation for Juanita Hankins will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Patrick Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Cemetery.
