Joseph Boyd Farthing, age 86, of Princeton, KY passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Baptist Health Paducah just a few hours after the death of his wife, Amelia Ann Farthing. Mr. Farthing was born October 2, 1936 to the late Cody Max Farthing and Lillie Mae Hinton Farthing. Mr. Farthing served his country in the U.S. Air Force in the Military Police. Additionally, he was an underground coal miner and carpenter. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. He also enjoyed helping his wife as a newspaper carrier in Union County for many years. Mr. Farthing was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Farthing was also an avid University of Kentucky Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Hayes (Scott) and Joretta Hayes both of Sturgis; one brother, Max Farthing of Morganfield, KY; two sisters, Delores Owens (Frank) of Henderson, KY and Maxine Arhelger of Sturgis, KY; six grandchildren, Carrie Jane Driesbach, Daniel Hayes, Melissa Jo Powell, Amanda Elizabeth Carr, Jennifer Lynn Smock and Matthew Lincoln Hayes; and ten great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Amelia Ann Farthing; a daughter, Kathy Jane Farthing; four brothers, Jimmy, Ronnie, Robert and Bill Farthing; one sister, Doris Smith, and one infant child.
Visitation for Joseph Boyd Farthing and Amelia Ann Farthing will be Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Dawson Springs, KY. Brother Troy Black will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
