John Elliott Ausenbaugh, Sr., age 84, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Ausenbaugh was born on December 12, 1923 in Caldwell County, KY to the late John William and Linnie McNeely Ausenbaugh. For many years he owned and operated “Johnny’s Garage” in Dawson Springs, KY and also worked at the Dawson Springs Ford garage. Mr. Ausenbaugh served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Dawson Springs First Christian Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law ~ John E. and Margaret Ausenbaugh of Dawson Springs, KY; four grandchildren ~ Laura Field of Hopkinsville, KY, Amy Elam of Dawson Springs, KY, John R. Ausenbaugh of Bowling Green, KY and Joan Gamble of Madisonville, KY; seven great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ausenbaugh was preceded in death by his parents; his wife ~ Martha Ausenbaugh (departed 12/23/2005); sisters ~ Grace Young, Jesse Thomason and Alberta Thomas and a brother ~ Bailey Ausenbaugh.
Visitation for John Elliott Ausenbaugh, Sr. will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY and on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 9:00 AM until the 1:00 PM funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Davidson will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be: John Russell Ausenbaugh, Frank Field, David Gamble, Matt Elam, Ben Campbell and Robert Shelton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Randall Young, James Ausenbaugh, Bill Ausenbaugh, Keith Thomas, Bill Townzen and Jack Brown.
