John E. Ausenbaugh, Jr., age 79, of Hopkinsville, KY and formerly of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Ausenbaugh was born on June 1, 1945 in Hopkinsville, KY to the late John E. Ausenbaugh, Sr. and Martha Louise White Ausenbaugh. John was a 1963 graduate of Dawson Springs High School and a 1969 graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he received a degree in pharmaceutical science. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Family Drugs in Dawson Springs from 1971 – 2008. Mr. Ausenbaugh was a member of First Christian Church in Dawson Springs where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by three daughters ~ Laura (Frank) Field of Hopkinsville, KY, Amy (Matt) Elam of Dawson Springs, KY and Joan (David) Gamble of Madisonville, KY; a son ~ John R. (Yasamin) Ausenbaugh of Crofton, KY; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ausenbaugh is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife ~ Margaret Ann Dillingham Ausenbaugh (departed May 13, 2019).
Visitation for John E. Ausenbaugh, Jr. will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be Frank Field, Matt Elam, Kaleb Gamble, David Gamble John R. Ausenbaugh, Alex Field and Andrew Gamble. Gracie Ausenbaugh, Gloria Ausenbaugh, Karson Seay, Madison Woolsey, Reagan Riggs and Kiki Riggs will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
