Jimmy Leon Abbott, Sr.

Jimmy Leon Abbott, Sr., age 65, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Abbott was born on November 24, 1951 to Martha Jean Abbott and the late Isaac L. Abbott. He served his country in the United States Army and was a 1969 graduate of Christian County High School. Mr. Abbott worked as a coal miner all his life.



Surviving family members include his mother; a significant other ~ Stephanie Cain of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter and son-in-law ~ Tammy and John Dukes of Hopkinsville, KY; a son and daughter-in-law ~ Jimmy Leon Abbott, Jr. & Natasha of Dawson Springs, KY; eight grandchildren ~ Devin Dukes, Macey Dukes, Mariah Dukes, Christian Abbott, Jordan Abbott, Jimmy Leon Abbott, III, Ashley Norris and Timmy Allen, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his father; his wife ~ Kathleen Austin Abbott (departed 3/9/2016), and a daughter ~ Tina Marie Allen (departed 4/11/2010).



Visitation for Mr. Jimmy Leon Abbott, Sr. will be Monday, May 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Charles, KY.



Pallbearers will be John Dukes, Natasha Abbott, Ronnie Norris, Clay Cornelius, Adam Hayes and Timothy Allen.
