James “Scotty” Dunning, age 57, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Dunning was born on November 14, 1965 in Madisonville, KY to the late Alton “Junior” Dunning and Tommie Love Dunning. He was a graduate of West Hopkins High School. Mr. Dunning worked for the City of Dawson Springs for 13 years and for Colonial Farms. He was of the Christian Faith.
“Scotty” is survived by his wife of 14 years, Gloria Melton Dunning of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter, Christy Messamore; two sons, B.J. Newberry of Princeton, KY and Kerry Melton of Oklahoma; step children, Amanda Paul of Princeton, KY, Jason Brent of Russellville, KY, Beth Dunbar of Dawson Springs, KY and Jessica Wood of Madisonville, KY; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, Alton Dunning; sisters, Daphne (Eddie) Johnson, Rita (Dunning) Smith, Beverly (Troy) Linville, and a bonus sister, Stacey (John) Guill; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, “Junior” and Tommie Dunning.
Visitation for Mr. James “Scotty Dunning will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY; and, again on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Phillip Dunning and Rev. Bo McGregor officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hopkins County, KY.
Pallbearers are John Guill, Matt Johnson, J.J. Johnson, Bo McGregor, Shawn Linville and Zack Messamore.
