James Edward "Hoosier" Allen

James Edward “Hoosier” Allen, age 62, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of Earlington, KY, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Baptist Health Deaconess, Madisonville, KY. Mr. Allen was born on June 16, 1959 in Murray, KY to the late Clarence Edward Allen and Eva Lillian Phelps Allen. He worked as a self-employed logger for many years. During the 80s and 90s Mr. Allen played bass guitar and sang with his family’s gospel group, “Rev. Allen and the Gospelaires”. He was of Pentecostal faith.



Mr. Allen is survived by a daughter, Shannon Marie Allen Virge, and a son, Joseph Allen both of Earlington, KY; two sisters, Etha May Steele and Loretta Lynn DeArmond both of Earlington, KY; one brother, John Edward Allen of Providence, KY; four grandchildren, Billy Virge III, Javille Virge, Britney Allen, Davin Allen, and six great-grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Katherine “Kathy” Allen; two sisters, Rosa Lee Allen and Melissa Ann Allen; and a grandson, Clarence Edward Allen Virge.



Visitation for Mr. James Edward “Hoosier” Allen will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021, between 10:00 AM until the funeral hour, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Phaup, officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.



Pallbearers include John Edward Allen, Joseph Allen, Billy Ray Virge III, Earl Williams, Tim Plunkette, Harvey Lear and David Allen.
