James A. “Tony” Smiley, age 64, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Smiley was born on December 19, 1956 in Princeton, KY to the late Olwyn Smiley and Vera Peek Smiley. He was a 1974 graduate of Caldwell County High School. After attending some college he served his country in the U.S. Army. For more than twenty five years he owned and operated “Smiley Painting” in Dawson Springs, and for several years he worked with “Storm’s Antiques” of Dawson Springs, KY.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marcella “Marcy” Storms Smiley of Dawson Springs, KY; one daughter, Serena Son; and one son, Ryan (Wayne) Smiley; three sisters, Phyllis Blackburn, Shirley (Bob) Boren, and Linda Smiley; two brothers, Ronnie Smiley and Gary (Kay) Smiley; grandchildren, Taylor Barnett (Olivia Gray) Tyler Son, Dylan and Samantha Kennedy; numerous nephews and nieces; a special mention to whom all called him “Pappaw”, and to Addy, who won his last smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sara “Jo” Phillips, and a brother, Wayne Smiley.
“Tony” will be cremated as was his wish. His family and friends plan to gather in the spring of 2021 to remember and honor his memory. Tony’s ashes will be scattered across the land he loved on the family hillside off of Hwy 672. A date and a time will be later posted for those that wish to attend.
