Gayle Norris Purdy

Gayle Norris Purdy, age 87, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Purdy was born on February 14, 1936 to the late Carlie P. and Prycie Pearl Peyton Purdy. Gayle, his wife, Linda, and their family owned and operated Purdy Brothers Grocery Store for more than 50 years.

Mr. Purdy is survived by a beloved family including two daughters and sons-in-law ~ Cindy Gayle (David) Kingery of Madisonville, KY and Carla Ann (Alan) Patton of Dawson Springs, KY; a son-in-law ~ Joe Meier of Princeton, IN; six grandchildren ~ Vicki Meier Stephens, Krista Kingery Levee, Karla Kingery Wathen, Karissa Purdy Russell, Kaila Purdy Weedman and Madison Purdy; and eleven great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Purdy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife ~ Linda Cotton Purdy (departed 8/24/2014), a son ~ Steven Purdy and a daughter ~ Cathy Meier.

Visitation for Mr. Gayle Norris Purdy will begin Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY. Elder Jeff Winfrey will officiate the service and burial will follow in Purdy Cemetery in Hopkins County, KY.

Active Pallbearers will be David Russell Beshear, Joe Dunbar, Houghston Peyton, Robby Peyton, Trevor Sewell and David Beshear. Honorary Pall Bearer will be Carl Buzzard.
