Garnett Arnold Buntin, age 90, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Buntin was born on August 23, 1933 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Henry Ligon Buntin and Verdie Leona Utley Buntin. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956 and worked more than 20 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA, and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Beulah Masonic Lodge. Mr. Buntin was also a Kentucky Colonel and served on the Charleston Fire Department Board. He was a member of Dunn Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years~ Mary Elizabeth Tapp Buntin of Dawson Springs, KY; three daughters ~ Melissa (Scott) Goodaker of Dawson Springs, KY, Machelle Carter of Franklin, KY and Melinda (Michael) Ferguson of Hanson, KY; nine grandchildren ~ Tara (Adam) Woodard, Kevin (Racheal) Jessie, Kayla Goodaker, Stephen (Maggie) Jessie, Daniel (Jessica) Goodaker, Christian (Ashley) Carter, Dillon Goodaker, Mackenzie Ferguson and Starla Cummings and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister ~ Opal Sisk and a brother ~ Robert Buntin.
Visitation for Garnett Arnold Buntin will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Jeremy Jessup and Rev. Wayne Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening at Beshear Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Stephen Jessie, Christian Carter, Dillon Goodaker, Kevin Jessie, Daniel Goodaker and Scott Goodaker.
