Ella Jane Garrett

Ella Jane Garrett, age 94, of Dawson Springs passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY.  Mrs. Garrett was born on September 18, 1929 in Confluence, KY to the late Jake Howard and Viola Baker Howard. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charlie Edward Garrett.  He loved her very much and she missed him greatly after his death in 2016.

She was a wonderful mother and wife who loved her family dearly.  She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs, KY and loved the Lord since she was a young child.  She always conducted her life as a lady and a Christian example.  Her smile would light up your heart, and her kindness inspired you to be your best.

She loved and was very close to her daughter, Gwendolyn Sue Poliszczuk and also her son-in-law, Allen Donald Poliszczuk (deceased 2021) of Madisonville, KY.

She was very close to and loved her granddaughter, Tiffany Ellen Burton and grandson-in-law, Kerry Dwayne Burton.

She was very close to and loved her grandson, Steven Charles Yeager (Lindsey Sims) of Villa Rica, GA, and also her great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Yeager and Lincoln Charles Yeager of Georgia.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Jewell Dendekker and brother, Jessie Howard of Kentucky; her younger daughter, Jeannie (Larry) Bertagnolli; a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was one of nineteen children.  Her parents preceded her in death and also sisters, Irene Turpin, Christine Oathout and Ruth Howard, brothers, Homer Howard, David Howard and Matthew Howard all of Kentucky; half-brothers and half-sisters, Hannah, Nancy, Rebecca, Harm, Press, John, Esom, Dewey, Monroe and Samuel.

She was loved and will be so missed.

Visitation for Mrs. Ella Jane Garrett will be from 12:00 – 2:00 on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Ben Butero officiating.  Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
