Dola Rose Poe Monroe, age 91, of Dawson Springs passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mrs. Monroe was born on September 29, 1932 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late David Moody Poe and Ollie Ellen Calvert Poe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs and a graduate of Charleston High School. Mrs. Monroe retired after working many years in the Dawson Springs School System.
She is survived by her children ~ Donna (Kent) Dillingham of Dawson Springs, KY and Danny (Dawn) Monroe of Brunswick, GA; a sister-in-law ~ Coleen (Bob) Helm of Madisonville, KY; a brother-in-law ~ Donald Inglis of Dawson Springs, KY; a brother ~ Ruby Poe of Dawson Springs, KY; Five Grandchildren ~ Dan (Katie) Dillingham, Ryan (Cortney) Dillingham, Daniel (Chelsea) Monroe, Jr., Anna Monroe & Chad (Laura) Armstrong; Eight Great-Grandchildren ~ Addy Dillingham, Garrett Dillingham, Liza Dillingham, Rosie Armstrong, Lawson Dillingham, Owen Armstrong, Lee Dillingham and Reed Monroe.
Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years ~ Douglas Ray Monroe (departed 5/23/2017); sisters ~ Ruth Purdy and Gleora Inglis and two brothers ~ Edward Poe and Sidney Poe.
Visitation for Mrs. Dola Rose Poe Monroe will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Mike Jicka officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be: Dan Dillingham, Ryan Dillingham, Chad Armstrong, Daniel Monroe, Jr., Anna Monroe and Garrett Dillingham. Great-Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
