DAVID WAYNE CHANEY



David Wayne Chaney, 77, St. Charles, died May 29th, 2018, at Tradewater Health and Rehab.

David was born August 25, 1940 in Hopkins County and was a former coal miner, having worked in various mines over the years before an accident led him to change his line of work. He retired from the Kentucky Corrections cabinet where he had served as a Corrections Officer at the Greenville Correctional Complex. He often joked he was serving a life sentence eight hours at a time. He was a Master Mason; Scottish Rite Mason and a York Rite Mason.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Glennis Jane (Janie) Chaney as well as his parents, Lewis Elliot Chaney and Margaret Louise Gault Chaney

Survivors include one daughter, Jada Chaney Agent and her husband, Ross, of Dawson Springs; one son, Lewis D. Chaney and his wife, Karessa, of Henderson; one sister, Regina Marvel of Marion; Grandchildren David Dewayne Ausenbaugh, Shara Ausenbaugh, Spencer Chaney and Evan Chaney; Honorary Grandchild Ronnie Forsythe along with great-grandchildren Jaden, Kailey, Aryn, Allie, MJ, Emma and Scout; and many nieces and nephews.

David’s cremation will be handled by Beshear Funeral Home and his cremains will be interred, privately, at Gilland Ridge Cemetery in St. Charles. There will be no formal services.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of monetary gifts to Tradewater Health and Rehab’s resident fund, which goes to buy Christmas gifts and provide other resident needs.
