Cecil H. Bowen, Jr., age 64, went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2019 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. His journey in life began in California in 1955 and at age 17 years he joined the United State Marine Corp. During his four years of active duty and two years of reserves, he was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge and National Defense Service Medal. His journey later in life landed him and his family in Dawson Springs, Kentucky where he was a long time resident who would go above and beyond for anyone he knew. As a single father of four daughters, they were his world. Cecil was a loving and very proud father, grandfather to his thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson. Cecil will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil H. Bowen, Sr., his sister, Debbie Perry and nephew whom he thought of like a son, Brandon Rivera.
He is survived by his four daughters, Tracy (Rickey) Trover, Ellen (David) Parrish, Annette ( Reece) Holmes and Samantha Dunlap. His mother, Mary Bowen, one brother and five sisters.
Visitation for Cecil H. Bowen, Jr. will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, Kentucky from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Following the funeral service a Military Honor Guard Service will be provided by the US Marines and the Hopkins County Veterans Honor Guard at Rosedale Cemetery. Burial will follow the Military Honor Guard Service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the “Cecil H. Bowen, Jr. Headstone Fund” at the U.S. Bank, 119 S. Main St., Dawson Springs, KY 42408.
Please join us as we say our final “good bye” to a fantastic man and a GREAT father, grandfather and great grandfather.
