Bobbie Sue Stallings Oglesby

Bobbie Sue Oglesby, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Huntsville, AL. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Lance Nichols Cemetery, Caldwell County, KY. Berryhill Funeral Home of Huntsville, AL and Beshear Funeral Home of Dawson Springs, KY are assisting the family with arrangements.



Sue was born to Harlan and Ernestine Stallings in May 1939 in Lewistown, Ky. She graduated from Dawson Springs High School where she played clarinet in the band and was a part of the Beta Club, FHA, and paper staff. Sue married Jackie L.R. Oglesby In May 1955 and began her career as wife and mother of a young Army family. Soon after Jack’s army career ended, they moved to Southern Illinois where they began to serve God in the evangelistic field. Her life as a Pastor’s wife was her true calling. She loved mission outreach, the church youth programs, and the music of her family.



Sue loved to sew. She spent many hours making dresses for her daughters for holidays and special events. Even Chris was the recipient of a suit one year. She enjoyed all crafts and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed. She leaves a legacy of faith, unconditional love and a determination to live life to the fullest.



She is survived by her 3 children, Theresa (Bob) Gribble, Christopher (Kim) Oglesby and Renee’ (Ed) Douglass. She had 8 grandchildren, Melissa Morton, Darren (Kali) Gribble, Benton (Kristen) Oglesby, Kayce Oglesby, Abigale Oglesby, Brandon (Jennifer) Douglass, Stephen (Sandra) Douglass, Erica (Kenny) Moore. She had 7 great-grandchildren, Noah Reed, Jack Nicks, Olivia Gribble, Abigail Gribble, Grace Douglass, Lily Douglass, and John Douglass. She had 2 sisters Doris (Dale) Hopper and Brenda (Randy) Bruce along with several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by husband, Jackie L.R. Oglesby and her parents, Harlan and Ernestine Stallings.
