James Littlejohn

August 26, 1939 — November 16, 2016

On November 16, 2016, James Littlejohn was welcomed into his eternal heavenly home. Mr. Littlejohn passed away at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY after a short illness.

“HE (God) will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Rev. 21:4

Mr. Littlejohn was born on August 26, 1939 in Caldwell County, KY to Charles H. Littlejohn and Viola Walls Littlejohn. He was a graduate of the class of 1958, Butler High School in Princeton, KY. He served his country in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis from 1962-1964. He worked as a union coalminer and later retired from South Hopkins Water District where he served as Superintendent. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs, KY.

Mr. Littlejohn loved life; he loved his family; and he loved his church. He never met a stranger. His greatest joys were sharing stories about playing softball as a young boy with his brothers, coaching men’s softball, coonhunting, spending time with his granddaughter and taking “little dog” for a walk. He loved starting his day by drinking coffee while helping solve the world’s problems around a dinner table at Ms. Becky’s Restaurant. Mr. Littlejohn will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Doris (Deanie) Burris Littlejohn of Dawson Springs; two daughters and a very beloved son-in-law: Lisa Littlejohn (Dawson Springs) and Lori & Jon Blalock (Dawson Springs); a granddaughter—Kylie Nicole Littlejohn; two sisters -- Liz Fralick (Princeton, KY) and Mary Catherine (Jim) Adams, (Benton, KY); sister-in-law – Donna Burris Clark (Dawson Springs) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings – Opal Littlejohn, Hoy Littlejohn, Thomas Littlejohn, Sam Littlejohn, Elmo Littlejohn, Daisy Kennady, Charlene Littlejohn and Arbie Littlejohn.

Visitation for Mr. James Littlejohn will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Perkins and Rev. Wayne Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at the McNeely Cemetery.
