James David "J.D." Gray

James David “J.D.” Gray, age 87, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Gray was born on May 7, 1930 in Christian County, KY to the late George William Gray and Minnie Inez Adams Gray. He worked as a mechanic all his life and for many years he owned and operated Gray’s Transmission. He served his country in the United State Army and served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the New Hope Holiness Church.



Mr. Gray is survived by his wife ~ Elizabeth Jean Adams Gray of Dawson Springs, KY; three daughters ~ Jeanette Sally Smith and Patricia Ann Galloway both of Dawson Springs, KY, and Barbara Aline Chappell of Madisonville, KY; three sons ~ James Anthony Gray of Cadiz, KY, David Earl Gray of Hanson, KY and Harold Wayne Gray of St. Charles, KY; eight grandchildren ~ Lori Ann Choates, Amy Elizabeth Smith, Tanya Nichole Parker, Michael Todd Hale, Kelly Lee Ann Hale, Jessica Alise Watts, Julie Elizabeth Greer and Dylan Alexander Frost ; five great-grandchildren ~ Jillian Rose Choates, Rhyan Nichole Parker, Caleb Michael Chapman, Tyler Reid Hale and Josie Elizabeth Watts; a step-grandsons ~ Randall Todd Davis and Zach Chappell and three step-great-grandsons ~ Luke Davis, Noah Davis and Caleb Davis.

Preceding Mr. Gray in death were his parents; two brothers ~ James Carl Gray and William Jewell Gray and an infant son ~ Robert Jewell Gray.



Visitation for Mr. James David “J.D.” Gray will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 with Rev. Robert Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Christian County, KY.



Active Pallbearers will be: Coty Greer, Timmy Martin, Jim Adams, Fred Watts, Sean McGillem and Randy Hankins. Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Chappell, Roger Adams, Gordon Junior Adams and Caleb Chapman.
