Dorothy B. Menser, age 86, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Menser was born on December 23, 1933 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Jess Blalock and Nora Jane Darnall Blalock. She was a graduate of Butler High School in Princeton, KY. Mrs. Menser received an Associate Degree and worked many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She became a member of the First Baptist Church at age 9 years and she considered her church and her faith to be wonderful pillars in her life. Mrs. Menser adored her family and her community, and she was very blessed to be a 60 year member of the Dawson Springs Order of the Eastern Star #133.
Mrs. Menser is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Kenneth Menser and three daughters, Rosetta (James) Ramsey of Frankfort, KY, Susan Menser of Dawson Springs, KY, and Freda (Gary) Thomas of Kuttawa, KY; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Jeff) Thompson, Jennifer (Stephen) Abney, Daniel Davis, Dr. Stephen Davis, and Taylor Copple; two great-grandchildren, William Parker Abney and D.J. Abney.
Mrs. Menser is preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Louise Blalock Henry, Ruth Oleta Blalock, Mary Blalock Dailey, Rosetta Blalock Schnabel, Linda Blalock Oliver Fralick, and Gladene Blalock; and three brothers, William Euen Blalock, Owen Darnall Blalock and Joe Lee Blalock.
While attending all visitation and funeral services please observe the state mandated Covid safety measures by maintaining 6 feet distancing and the wearing of face mask coverings at all times.
Visitation for Dorothy B. Menser will be Friday, June 12, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM (CST) at the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs, KY, (960 Industrial Park Rd, Dawson Springs, KY 42408) and on Saturday, June 13, 2020, visitation will continue from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM (CST) with her funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM (CST) at the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs. Elder Jeff Winfrey and Rev. Trent Keeton will officiate the service with burial to follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery near Dawson Springs, KY.
Mrs. Menser’s funeral service will be “streamed live” on Beshear Funeral Home Facebook beginning at 1:00 PM. (CST) (To view: “Google” beshearfuneralhomefacebook and select “videos” among the menu options.)
